At the time, the London club was focusing on developing young players, and the squad included, amongst others, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Willian, N'Golo Kanté and Kepa Arrizabalaga, at the end of the season Premier League in fourth place and qualifying for UEFA Champions League.
