TOP 10 - Goalkeeper shirts from the 1990s.
What do you associate summer with 90. in football?
The development of television broadcasting, the first original jerseys coming from the west, the dark period for our national team, when in the meantime there were major tournaments like the 1994 World Cup or the 96th European Championship in England. On the fields ran such footballers as Zidane, Ronaldo, and Diego Maradona was coming to the end of his career. Serie A was on the up and Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson, with David Beckham in the line-up, began to flourish.
The 1990s. were also, in the opinion of many, a golden period for football shirts. Brands such as Umbro and Kappa were in vogue, while Nike was just starting out in the football industry, gaining recognition from clubs such as Borussia Dortmund and PSG, who decided to partner with the American giant. The jerseys were large and sack-sized, allowing the designers to let their imagination run wild, and to this day the leotards from that era are still held in high regard due to their often unique designs.
In addition to the field players, the field also features goalkeepersAnd here, in terms of design, there were sometimes no limits, and the designs of the goalkeepers' outfits were sometimes works of art or... well, you can judge for yourself, and we will focus on them in today's article, presenting you our subjective top 10 in the category of... well? We don't know ourselves, the longer we look at these jerseys the more we don't know if we like them or not, so let's establish that this is a ranking of the leotards most interesting.
#10 Manchester United 1995/96
We'll start with the Isles and the club that was then beginning to rule and divide in both the domestic and European backyard. Manchester United and the goalkeeper jersey from the 1995/96 season. We chose this one because we have it in our shop at the moment, but it is not the only interesting goalkeeper proposal from Umbro designers for the Red Devils. Umbro, England, bright colours spiced up with an irregular pattern worn by Peter Schmeichel, what more could you want?

#9 Liverpool FC 1995/96
As with United, their Mersey County rivals also had a number of interesting designs for goalkeepers, but they were dressed in turn by Adidas and Reebok. The jersey pictured here is based on a popular template from the German manufacturer of the time, which was worn by Legia Warsaw goalkeepers among others.

#8 England 1996/98
This leotard is probably familiar to everyone. The iconic shirt of the Lions Albion national team, mainly associated with the unsuccessful (as usual) tournament England played on home soil and David Seaman donning it. The red base, spiced up with yellow, green and black and irregular patterns along with the lettering create one of the most iconic goalkeeper shirts ever.

#7 Inter Milan 1995/96
Gianluca Pagliuca, the Italian goalkeeper for the club from the Lombardy capital, had the unenviable pleasure of appearing in some of the Nerrazurri's most interesting goalkeeping outfits of the 1990s. There were quite a few interesting designs from Umbro for Inter, and we decided to include the one from the 1995/96 season. It's hard to say what the designers had in mind, but the Pirelli sponsorship in the shape of a snail in a bent tunnel seduced us.

#6 Newcastle United 1996/97
This is by far one of the most iconic Srokes shirts ever. The beer sponsor, which is of course the local Newcastle Brown Ale brewery, the club crest in the shield and the city skyline against a sunset background. Adidas really made an effort, as these copies reach sky-high sums today and are remembered with great fondness.

#5 Denmark 1992/94
For the second time, we welcome Peter Schmeichel to this line-up, this time in the national colours. Hummel also made a strong mark on the 1990s, as this jersey has seen both reissues and contemporary inspirations used by clubs. It was used by the Danes at Euro 1992, and I don't think we need to tell you what a tournament that was for footballers from the Lego country? Interestingly, identical jerseys were also worn by Burnley in 1992, however produced by... Mitre.

#4 Mexico 1994
You think Mexico goalkeeper, you say Guilermo Ochoa or... Jorge Campos. A legend of crazy designs, but were these jerseys pretty? We seriously doubt it, but due to the brightness of the colours they definitely had the potential to dazzle both opponents and fans in the stands.

#3 Japan 1998/00
Another company in our line-up, this time Asics with its legendary design for the Japanese, which shimmered on French pitches during the 1998 World Cup. The flame motif is rarely used, but in this case it seems to have been a hit. The jerseys are still very hard to find today, their prices reach dizzying sums and the market is flooded with fakes.

#2 Sunderland AFC 1995/96
We saw this jersey for the first time when creating this listing and after seeing the goalkeeper glove motif on the sides on the front, we immediately decided that we had to include it in this ranking. Our answer right away - it's terrible!

#1 Boca Juniors 1995
Let us leave this without comment and leave the assessment to you:)

If you've made it to the end, thank you. This is our subjective ranking of the most interesting goalkeeper shirts from the 90s, but I must point out that it was a difficult task, because if we wanted to fit all the ones we came across during our research, it would have to be a top 100.
