The first-choice goalkeeper for BVB at the time was Roman Weidenfeller, one of the club’s most distinctive players of that era and a later member of Borussia’s championship-winning teams at the start of the following decade.

The T-shirt was manufactured using intensive purple base, clearly distinguishing it from the traditional yellow and black kits worn by outfield players. The design is complemented by contrasting yellow trim, which directly reflect the club’s colours and really stand out against a darker background.

A distinctive feature is long sleeves, the upper part of which features striking yellow stripes featuring repeated Kappa logos.
